Left around 9am after packing up everything. Said goodbye to everyone we had befriended and set off back along the 35km sandy track. When we reached the sealed road we had to put all the pressures back up and then made our way to Beagle Bay community to see the old church. The church is decorated in pearl shells and various other shells. Built in the very early 1900’s by hand with hand made bricks and shells burned to lime for mortar. Very interesting.
Then back on the road to Roebuck Roadhouse to refuel and hit the road towards Darwin. Stopped at a rest area called Ellendale only to find it full of people. There was a cycle group of about 30 with tents riding from Darwin to Broome. There were motorcyclists with their swags and of course plenty of caravans. I have never seen a free roadside stop so full. It was like a giant party.
