Mimbi Caves Tour- to Bowriver rest stop

We were packed up and at the gates van and all for our tour of the Mimbi Caves. Aunty Rose took the tour. I think she is an aboriginal elder, however her family line originates in the area. It was a good tour through the caves which are all natural, unmodified. We had to take torches. She was assisted by one of her family members who started the fire to take us all through a smoking ceremony in a welcome to country. After the tour we had damper and tea before we hit the road once more. We stopped in at Halls creek for a pie and some fuel and lollies. Fillet steak was $110 per kg. Far out. Don’t know how any of the locals could afford that.

Made it to the Bow river rest stop at about 4.30 and parked up for the night before sundown.
