Quick stop at the bakery in Ravenshoe and then off to Mount Hypipamee National Park for a short walk in a rain forest. We have now transitioned from the dry tropics to the wet tropics where it tends to be cool and rain a lot.
Then after visiting the old volcano crater we drove to a town called Yungaburra. A pretty little town with lovely little shops and an opportunity to see some Platapus. Only one we saw along the river had a face just like Elaine’s. See the pictures.
We then headed off to Lake Barrine because we had heard that their scones were good 👹
Well we arrived at the lovely old tea house on Lake Barrine at about 2pm and immediately ordered Earl Grey Tea and scones, butter, jam and of course a huge amount of cream. We sat ate a table overlooking the beautiful lake searching for fresh water crocs while devouring our fresh scones. Of course I wanted more so I order another one but as they were already starting to wrap up for the day, they simply gave me one to go with the bottomless tea. Oh boy did I feel like a pig. We had a little walk up and down one edge of the lake. Back to the car and off to the next place which was Lake Eacham. They had some lovely boardwalks and I am sure the swimming would be great on a hot day. So we went for a walk along the edge of the lake to ease the pressure in our bellies from eating all the scones. We watched the fish and the turtles doing what they do but still no crocs. Probably too cold out of the water for them.
All in all a big day out. It was good to get back to camp and relax.
