As per usual we started the day by popping in to Ravenshoe for something at the bakery and then off to the town of Atherton. Quite a long drive but the cold and misty rolling hills that remind us of England are simply beautiful. In Atherton I washed the car for the first time since Darwin. Now I can actually touch it and not get covered in dust. The van is still another matter. We walked up and down the streets of Atherton which included a coffee shop and the camping shop which are on our list of priorities. Bought a new thermos as ours finally wore out. On the drive back we stopped at the wind farm and took some picks of the ugly monoliths that look like something out of the apocalypse movies.
On the way back to camp we did a detour to Little Millstream Falls and did that walk as well. This is very close to Ravanshoe. Just another great spot.
Elaine was keen to spend another night enjoying the Ravenshoe Hotel so we did. We booked in for a curry and enjoyed the quirky ambiance of this old dining room with its paintings and furnishings and the people…. There is the ever present picture of the queen alongside an image of Jesus of course….. We sat by the fire and would have had an aperitif had we not been so darn full.
