Packed up and drove to the car wash to give the van a quick once over as we keep getting covered in red dust just by being in the near vicinity of the van. Then on the highway North towards Cooktown. On the way we stopped in at the Palmer River Road House for lunch and a beer. Cheapest lunch and drink that we have had on this trip. Then onwards to the Lions Den Hotel. We were here with the kids and two other families when we did the Cape York Adventure in 2000. We decided to stay the night and set up camp in their camping area behind the hotel. That night we had live music which went on until almost midnight. Had dinner in the pub but didn’t stay long as we were both very tired. Can’t party like we used to.
