The drive to Cooktown is very short and we arrived around 11am. Found a caravan park in town and tried our luck. Yes we managed to get in. A stroke of luck as most sites are full this time of year. Set up and then had a lovely walk around town.

We had two and a half days in Cooktown which is actually a very small town. We did a lovely rim walk which included some beach walking. We watched the Groupers being fed, we ate very good fish and chips, we visited the local museum which really well done. We checked out the Botanical Gardens, also very interesting. Visited the site where Captain Cook beached his boat for repairs. We also drove to Isabella Falls and Endeavour Falls. It was very windy the entire time. Still enjoyed the time there.
