First stop was for morning tea at a little cafe made to look like a diner inside. After driving through many miles of sugar cane we arrived at Neem Hall where we had booked a farm stay for two nights. That is a camp site on a farm. After setting up and having lunch we drove up the mountain to Eungella National Park. Glad we never took the van as the road is incredibly steep. We stopped at Broken River and did the walk to the viewing platforms to see the Platypus. I just saw it in the distance and lost interest but Elaine had more faith and stayed to get some pics and video of the ever elusive Platypus. Back down the mountain to our camp site for a barbie.
The next morning we had a slow start and then made our way to Finch Hatton Gorge for a bush walk. Well it was a fantastic walk through some great tall forests in the gorge. It was fairly tough to the first water fall and then got even tougher walking to the second waterfall. At the base of these falls were the most pristine swimming holes and boy were they cold. Elaine swam in the first one and came out with blue lips. I copped out on that one but had to commit to the second one as it was extremely hot and humid. Wobbly legs on the way down.
On the way back we detoured into Finch Hatton and had a beer and a pie for lunch at the Criterion Hotel. Then back to camp for a dip in the river and barbecued ribs for dinner.
