Albany to the Stirling Ranges

After packing up, we left the van in the caravan park and drove to the local bakery.  We bought a couple of plain croissants and an almond croissant. Turned out to be a big mistake as they certainly were not croissants. Found ourselves at a coffee shop where one customer suggested they had the best coffee in town. A nice trendy place with music pumping, coffee was very mediocre. He asked us what we thought and we said that the coffee from our Nespresso machine in the van was better.

Back at camp we hitched up the van and headed off to the Stirling Ranges. We passed through Mount Barker where we stopped and had a look through the studio that artist Sobrane has just bought. She is painting the outside of the building with some fun art. She is a famous artist that has done much of the silo and street art around the country. We met her when she was living and working in Broome a few years ago. She has now moved to Mount Barker and loves it.

Back on the road we headed out to the Pink Lakes just outside of Cranbrook to take some pics. Continuing on the same road we saw that our GPS was taking us on a massive loop around the park so we stopped at the first small town, fueled up and turned around following a more direct route. We set up camp in the afternoon heat. Temps hit around 37 deg. Luckily we managed to secure a powered site amongst some trees which allowed us to run the aircon. Spent best part of the afternoon in doors.
