Clare South Australia

It was quite a long drive to Clare but when we arrived we changed caravan parks as we wanted to be closer to town. They allocated a spot to us that was in the blazing sun and close to the main road so we asked for a different one and managed to get into the afternoon shade of a tall tree. After setting up we headed to the pool for a swim. That evening we drove into town and had a cold glass of Riesling at the Bentley Hotel. Dinner back at the van and we were hoping for another swim but they closed the swimming pool at 8pm for servicing. Damn……Sat out for a while as the air cooled slightly. Slept with the aircon on all night.

The next day we went for a ride along the Riesling Trail. This bike trail is smooth formed gravel. Not great for the narrow tyres but not too bad either. It was a lovely ride with wineries everywhere. We came across the old railway station in Auburn which has now been turned into a winery tasting room belonging to Horrocks Wines. Headed into Auburn town and discovered a great coffee shop with a great garden area.
