It has been a crazy week. The plan was to camp in the Kosiuszko National Park in the hope we might get a light dusting of snow. That was after we decided not to go North to the beaches.
As all the closer beach destinations were showing rain for weeks on end we decided that we might as well go the full hog and go cold camping. We left mid morning and drove for about four hours. We camped behind the historic pub at Bredbo. A small town with a population of 300. Had a drink and a pie with the locals and then slunk back into the van as it was very cold.
The next morning we had coffee at a brand new and lovely coffee shop called Snow Bunny. Coffee was the best I have had in a while and they had a great variety of treats and a nice menu, which might have us going back on our return.
We arrived at our destination, (Kosiuszko Park) and set up camp in amongst the trees. Its a great spot and there is only one other family in the camp ground. After some lunch we headed up towards Charlotte Pass for a walk. On the way we stopped off at Perisher Ski Resort for some pics. Season hasn’t started yet but they have managed to groom one beginner slope for the weekend. Then on to Charlotte Pass. When we got there it was very cold and snowing lightly. It was also very slippery so we only walked to the lookout and back before the cold set in. Jump back in the car to warm up. Headed back to camp and built a fire. Cheese and bikkies with a bit of wine was very welcome but it had the pesky Possums annoying us no end.
