Time to visit Thredbo. First we need a decent pair of gloves as we brought none of our snow gear with us. It wasn’t meant to be this cold with this much snow. There was a snow gear sale in the community hall so in there first for some gloves and then on to the Thredbo resort in the National Park.
The approach on the Saturday was really beautiful as it was snowing gently all the way from the diggings camp ground. By the time we got to Thredbo we were in the thick of it with high winds and snow blowing everywhere. It was really cold and treacherously icy. Naturally after a walk around we made our way to a cafe for hot chocolate which was way too sweet. Had we been skiing we would have lapped up the excess sweetness. We walked all around the resort and just soaked up the atmosphere before having lunch in one of the restaurants. ET had pear schnapps with hers and I had a lovely red wine. Lots of really expensive ski gear shops around town which is really tempting because the gear is so nice. Simply could not justify a single purchase other than ET’s warm fir lined boots which we bought in Cooma before we arrived at the snow. Had a great day, lots of fun touristing. We also had a ride on the Alpine coaster which was a lot of fun. In the evening the camp ground was putting on a pizza night with live music so we had a glass of wine and hung out for a while next to a heater.😀
Because of the 20cm fresh snow dump over night we decided to go back to Thredbo for another day. Parked up at Friday flat and caught the bus to Thredbo village for another day of frivolity. The place look so stunning with all the trees dripping with snow and every inch of the ground covered with fresh powder soft under foot. Had another awesome day before driving back precariously because everything was very icy. Lots of pic s and videos attached. Open the first one to view them correctly.
