Went for a ride on our bikes with Tony which turned out to be a Tour de Gold Coast, taking all the bike paths new and old to avoid the morning work traffic. Had to do this as we started later than Tony would normally set out. We also had a walk around the lake to the local coffee shop at the sailing club. Did some shopping at their local well stocked South African shop and bought some Amstel Beers and Boerewors. We spent some time in the swim spa which was nice a warm and then we had a braai and chatted about old times and of course all the upcoming events.
On one of the days we went to the morning markets for pastries and coffee and then we drove up into the hinterland and had lunch at a British Pub. The building is British enough but the entire inside of the pub was brought out from England and reassembled here. It is called the Fox and Hounds. Of course I had Fish and Chips with Mushy Peas and Elaine had Beef and Pork roast of the day with Mushy Peas and awesome crackling. Lots of gravy of course. After the Guinness settled we headed further up the mountain to Tamborine Mountain Village and had a lovely walk up and down all the shops cafes etc. There were arrows pointing to a fairy shop which I spotted and after sending Elaine in that direction we came away with a lovely fairly dress for Hazel which has wings.
On another afternoon we drove up part of the mountain and met with Tony’s cycling group at a beautiful big house where they were all meeting to have a few drinks and distribute their new group cycling jerseys. Great arvo thanks all.
It was good to catch up with Bradley and Liv, who are just back from the UK and Samantha in her newly renovated house.
